You can call me Rosalind.

I am a wife, a microbiologist, a Jersey girl, and a trekkie.

I live in Western Massachusetts, but grew up in Bruce Springsteen’s hometown of Freehold, NJ. I’ve been a scientist since I was little and created habitats for caterpillars in buckets. Mom never let me keep them inside the house, though. I’ve been watching Star Trek as long as I can remember, and I have a little, tiny (read that as GIGANTIC) crush on Wil Wheaton (Love you Wil!). I adore good science fiction and horror and have read and watched numerous examples of both including the Robots and Foundation series from Issac Asimov, X-files, Many Star Treks, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, the Vampire Chronicles, and Supernatural, to name just a few. I can sing the entire score to three or four musicals, my favorite being RENT (RIP Jonathon Larson).

Currently, I work as a microbial ecologist and occasional biogeochemist studying various anthropogenic (read that as human) inputs that affect natural microbial communities and trying to use the microbes to improve these natural systems.

  • Hey, cool! More biology/ecology geeks like me. The world needs more. I have to say, though, that I don’t have a lab and my lab technique is a little rusty, so I experiment with macrobiology, like plants and fungus. Cool site, by the way.
