Geeks are familiar with today’s international destination – at least visually! Come on, even if you haven’t hopped a flight, you feel like you’ve been to New Zealand because you have visited it’s gorgeous sights through the Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit. But that’s not all this Kiwi country has to offer for geeks. Let’s explore New Zealand.

Now, there’s a ton to do in the sixteen regions of this country, so I’m not going to dawdle on any one place or topic. Here’s a just a quick hit list of some of the places I would absolutely need to check out to get my Kiwi geek fix. For an overall geek outing in New Zealand, visit Te Papa – their national museum.   • You know you’ve got to take a guided tour of the Hobbiton movie sets
  • Some of the country’s best chardonnay and pinot noir can be found at Neudorf Winery
  • At the Museum of Caves, learn all about how caves form and find fossils
  • Take a tour of the night sky and learn about stars at Mt John Observatory
