You know you’ve wanted to be a superhero. Who hasn’t? We’ve all thought about transforming into our secret crime fighting identity, battling an arch nemesis, and rescuing a city from distress. However, most of the time, we need to live vicariously through out favorite comic books and movies. Luckily for you, there’s a place where you can buy all the supplies to make your dreams come true. For today’s Travel Tuesday, we’re hopping over to New York for Brooklyn’s Superhero Supply Co.
Where to Go
The Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co has a store located in Brooklyn, NY. It’s located at 372 5th Ave in Brooklyn, right between 5th and 6th Street. This is in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, and it’s only few blocks from 9th St station where the D, N, and R trains stop.
There might be similar stores in other towns dotted across the US, but this store isn’t a chain, and their only brick and mortar location is the one in Brooklyn. However, just in case you live a trek away from New York, they also have a website: http://www.superherosupplies.com.
How to Prepare
It’s difficult to prepare yourself for such an interesting and unique shopping experience. However, there are a few things I’d suggest:
- Bring your camera! Make sure the battery is charged and the memory card clear, because there is some pretty cool stuff in this store that you’re going to want to photograph
- Think hard about your superhero alter-ego. You don’t want to be overwhelmed by all the options. You can be invisible and fly, because that’s just not fair.
- Realistically, set yourself a budget. There’s some awesome knick knacks to buy, but unless you’re building yourself a brand new lair, you probably don’t need most of it!
Why It’s Fun
Well this is easy. It’s a superhero supply store! The atmosphere of the store is very chill, and the staff seemed used to people coming in to look around without buying much. In addition, some of the products are just so interesting to look at. On a costume side, there’s capes and secret identity kits. For your lab, you might need some bottles of Antimatter or Invincibility. For your lair, perhaps and Evil Blob Containment Unit will suffice.
All in all, I don’t want to give away too much. This place was a lot of fun to wander around and explore. If you ever find yourself in Brooklyn, check it out. If not, check out their website!
